Since it was founded in 2002, the FIT - freie internationale tankstelle - has stood for a meaningful art term, resisted all aesthetisising moments, and has sponsored art that is relevant to society, precisely positioned and visionary: On the basis of the finiteness of traditional energy sources, the aim is to return to the origin of the concept and to rename "energy" as a "living force", as it was originally intended. The all-inclusiveness resulting from such an understanding is a commitment to all those energies which reside in the potential spectrum and which do not seem to have been recognised by the consciousness of society. A context of ideas that incorporates this, also formulated in terms such as Social Plastic and Extended Art Term, describes the concept practised at FIT, which looks for artistic-philosophical content in cultural and social creativity. In a filling station - robbed of its original function - pictures images are developed in such a way that the vision of a future of exhausted natural resources is translated into the creativity of those who gather here to work together and produce a new creative energy and "living force". All the artists presented by FIT reflect this idea by their own means, whether through painting, installations or actions, with a clear impetus to enlighten.
